How Employment Agencies Match the Right Employees with Employers

Monday February 9, 2009

In order to successfully do this, employment agencies should honestly evaluate the employer's organizations values and work preferences to determine what type of employee would be ideal.

By identifying its values, employment agencies should be able to make an ideal employee placement in the quickest amount of time, which is of greatest benefit for both employment agencies and the organization. If, however, these steps are not taken and an employee is placed with different values and work preferences, it can result in employee anxiety, and increase their unwillingness to commit to the role.

Employment agencies generally follow criteria to determine organizations real values and work preferences. This may include looking at the organizational brand, policies and remuneration before examining the positions analysis and design and ultimately who they will be working with and the daily requirements.

In selecting the ideal candidate for the employer, employment agencies recruit people whose values and work preferences match that of the employer and organization. By not matching right employee with the position, it may result in people leaving the role or not performing well as it is not what the role appeared to be.

To avoid this, employment agencies need to be clear about an organizations values, work style and the values expected of new employees.

Methods of accurately assessing these traits can be through work simulations, psychological assessments or emotional intelligence assessments, which have been thought to impact on a person's role success by up to 25%.

Employment agencies or employers may also ask the potential employee to answer behavioural interview questions, complete assessment centre exercises or thoroughly check references.

These processes also benefit the candidate or employees as it allows them to self assess, and determine whether they identify with the organization and its values. By employment agencies, employers and employees all understanding exactly what is required of the position there is a far greater chance for success for all three parties.
